Hiring in the Lowcountry
Read the GuidesPlenty of houses here sit behind a gate or under an HOA. A lot of them are second homes or rentals, so the owner is often hundreds of miles away when something breaks. Storm season puts every roofer, tree crew and generator installer in demand at once. And a Bluffton mailing address doesn't always tell you which office issues the permit.
The listings, the town pages and the guides are written with that in mind. We write each description from the company's website and reviews, and every town page is about the houses and the rules in that town.
Verified listings can add photos of real jobs, a description of what the company does best, and a link to its website.

Up to three Featured businesses can come first on a page, always labeled. Verified contractors come next. Everyone else follows by Google rating, weighted by how many reviews it rests on.
What Paying Doesn't Change
Ray's picks and the guides aren't for sale, and a Featured business can't also be a pick. Paying for Verified pays for the check. If you fail it, you don't get the mark. How Verified works.
