The Lowcountry Isn't One Housing Market

That changes who you should call. Most of Hilton Head was built from the 1970s through the 1990s, and about a third of its homes are villas and condos. Almost everything in Bluffton's town limits went up after 2000. In Beaufort's historic district a new roof goes to the Review Board first, and Ridgeland has the oldest houses of the Jasper towns, with wells and septic just outside town.

Lowcountry Trusted Pros lists the contractors who work here, by trade and by town. Every listing is free. The guides cover licenses, permits, termites, storm season and the other things that come up in nine towns and two counties.

About the Directory

Before the season

Storm Season Starts June 1. Book in the Spring.

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. The roofers, tree crews and generator installers who do good work fill their calendars long before a storm shows up on the map, so March is the time to call, not August.
