Pool Builders · the Lowcountry
A new pool in the Bluffton area or on the islands usually means design review from the HOA, a pass through the gate for every truck, and a permit from whoever governs the land under the house. On tighter lots, access for the excavator and room for the equipment pad shape the design as much as the shape of the pool does. Salt air and long summers are hard on screens, decking and equipment.
Ask who handles the HOA application and the permit, and get it in writing. A Bluffton mailing address doesn't always mean a Bluffton permit; see who issues building permits. Ask what the price includes: decking, fencing, equipment and drainage.
Ask where the water goes. Between the pool, the deck and the splash-out, a lot of water ends up next to the house, and the grade has to carry it away.
