Plenty of sun and long cooling seasons make solar a fair question, but local conditions shape the answer. Roofs here take wind, salt and heavy rain, and panels add new penetrations and racking to that roof. Many neighborhoods have HOA or design review that weighs in on what goes on the roof, and in Beaufort's historic district the Review Board reviews roof changes on contributing buildings.
Ask how many years the roof under the panels has left, and who warrants the roof penetrations: the installer or the roofer. Get the HOA's approval in writing before signing anything.
My first question is how much life that roof has left. Panels last a long time, and taking them off to reroof is a bill nobody mentions in the sales pitch.

Open around the clock, ZNM Construction Group on Robert Smalls Parkway in Beaufort handles insurance claim restoration, roofing, full renovations and kitchen and bath remodels. Its website adds turnkey renovations for short-term rentals, rental property maintenance and smaller service calls, and Google lists plumbing, electrical work and panel upgrades.
Lowcountry Renewables keeps an office on Bay Street in Beaufort and describes itself as a solar energy company in Jasper County. The listing doesn't detail its services.
Apartment complexes and churches are among the customers Lanier Roofing lists, along with homes and other commercial buildings. From East Boardwalk Drive in Ridgeland, it handles re-roofing, repairs and new construction roofing in architectural, designer and cedar shake shingles, plus storm damage restoration with gutters, replacement windows, painting and leaf protection.
Sports field lighting and fire alarm installs are on the commercial list at Quality Electrical Systems, on Scipio Road in Beaufort. The company dates itself to 1995, and its website says it now works exclusively on commercial projects for businesses, schools and government facilities: new construction, renovations, generators, project management, and design, build and budgeting.
Tesla Powerwall batteries and EV chargers come alongside solar panels at Go Solar Power, a Service Experts company with a location on Fording Island Road in Bluffton. It works with homeowners and commercial clients in eight states, and its description runs from consultation through system engineering and design to installation and utility interconnection.
Serves the area from nearby
Solar panels are a real specialty at BW Exterior Wash Services, a Rincon, Georgia, company whose website describes a solar division that cleans everything from rooftop arrays to utility-scale solar farms. It dates itself to 2020 and also washes houses, brick, stucco and fences.
Law enforcement owned and operated, according to its website, Blue Line Pressure Washing serves the Savannah area with house washing, concrete, driveway, sidewalk and patio cleaning, vinyl fence cleaning, solar panels and commercial work. Estimates are free, and it's open seven days.
