Landscape and Outdoor Lighting · the Lowcountry
Salt, sprinklers and sandy soil are hard on anything electrical in a yard. Fixtures near the marsh and on the islands corrode faster than inland ones, and low-voltage wire buried in planting beds gets nicked by edgers and irrigation repairs. Much of the work is lighting live oaks, paths and docks, and in gated communities the lighting plan may need to pass the same design review as any other exterior change.
Ask what the fixtures are made of, since solid brass and copper hold up to salt better than painted aluminum, and what the warranty covers. Find out who services the transformer and timer later, and who handles any line-voltage work.
Go look at a job they put in three or four years ago, and look at the fixtures up close. Salt tells you the truth about metal faster than any brochure does.
